Experienced Litigation Paralegal

Washington, DC/Hybrid

$90,000 – $125,000

This large global law firm is seeking an experienced career Litigation Paralegal to provide high-level support to attorneys handling complex, high-stakes litigation and contested proceedings. In this role, you will manage case and procedural activities, including filings, deadlines, discovery, document management, legal research, case development, expert and witness coordination, motion practice, and trial preparation, while ensuring compliance with applicable rules and filing requirements. The firm is seeking candidates who are seasoned and eager to bring their skillset to a high-achieving team where time management and thoroughness is essential and collaboration and proactive problem solving is encouraged!

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support complex patent litigation and contested proceedings before federal courts, the USPTO, PTAB, and ITC, including case management, filings, and trial preparation.
  • Manage patent matters throughout the full case lifecycle, including calendaring deadlines, coordinating filings, and maintaining compliance with applicable procedural rules and electronic filing systems.
  • Prepare and coordinate PTAB and USPTO filings, including petitions, responses, exhibits, reexamination documents, and related submissions.
  • Support all phases of discovery and case development, including document collection and production, source code reviews, deposition preparation, expert coordination, and management of case materials.
  • Assist with motion practice and trial preparation, including drafting and filing litigation documents, witness preparation, hearings, depositions, document productions, cite checking, proofreading, and legal research.
  • Manage electronic and hard-copy case documents using litigation and eDiscovery platforms such as Relativity, Opus 2, and Adobe Acrobat Pro, and prepare case summaries, chronologies, reports, and charts.
  • Train and oversee Project Assistants and temporary staff while effectively managing multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, and business professionals and perform additional duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Career paralegal. You have a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of prior paralegal experience. Experience specifically within IP litigation is required and having a paralegal certification is a plus!
  • Office and legal software savvy. You have strong technical skills and can easily navigate the applications of Microsoft Office Suite, eDiscovery software, and other legal research and document management tools.
  • Stellar communication skills. Communication is essential in this role! You are professional, discrete, clear, and effective communicating both verbally and through writing.
  • High-expectations, high-achieving. You are eager to bring your skillset to a team operating in a fluid, high-pressure legal environment. Having strong organizational and time management skills to navigate competing priorities and deadlines is one of your strengths!

 

The salary listed reflects the anticipated compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, location, business considerations, and internal equity. Final offer amounts are determined at the employer’s discretion.
