Karen Mills

Hawthorne Lane was co-founded by Karen Mills, a Maryland native and seasoned direct-hire recruiter who has more than fifteen years’ experience serving the Washington, DC, and San Francisco markets.

After graduating from Indiana University, Karen started her career recruiting for law firms and corporate legal departments in Washington, DC. Eager to diversify her skills and experience life in the Bay Area, Karen moved to San Francisco and placed executive-level accounting and finance professionals with Parker & Lynch. She then worked for the next four years at Career Group successfully recruiting for high-level Executive Assistant positions with Fortune 500 companies, venture capital and private equity firms, management consulting firms, technology start-ups, and other professional services organizations.

Karen relocated back to her hometown of Washington, DC, to be closer to family and to open Hawthorne Lane in 2014, the recruiting firm she always dreamed of working for: a dynamic, progressive, and fun company with a focus on using new and improved recruiting methods to do great work.
