Temporary Business Development Analyst (Four-to-Five-Month Opportunity)

Washington, D.C./Hybrid

$32 – $35/hour

As the Temporary Business Development Analyst, you will play a key role in delivering the research and business insights that drives strategic business development initiatives for a nationally recognized law firm. Working closely with attorneys and BD professionals, you will transform complex legal, industry, and competitive data into actionable insights that support client growth, pitch opportunities, and firm strategy. This role is ideal for a research-minded professional who thrives on uncovering trends, managing multiple priorities, and providing meaningful analysis in a fast-paced legal environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted research partner, providing timely intelligence that supports business development strategy and client engagement.
  • Translate complex legal, market, and industry information into practical insights that help drive informed business decisions.
  • Develop customized research deliverables that equip attorneys and business development professionals for meetings, pitches, and growth opportunities.
  • Stay informed on competitive activity, market developments, and emerging trends to proactively identify opportunities for the firm.
  • Balance multiple projects while delivering thoughtful, accurate, and well-presented work within established deadlines.
  • Utilize a variety of research platforms and emerging technologies to streamline analysis while maintaining a high standard of accuracy.
  • Build collaborative relationships across the firm, responding to research requests with professionalism, curiosity, and a client-service mindset.
  • Support additional strategic initiatives and special projects as priorities evolve.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Insightful. You have around five years of experience conducting legal research, or business development analysis and know how to translate information into strategic recommendations.
  • Investigative. You enjoy digging beneath the surface, connecting information from multiple sources, and uncovering meaningful business opportunities.
  • Adaptable. You quickly learn new research platforms, technologies, and processes, and understand the importance of validating your findings.
  • Organized. You confidently manage multiple research requests, prioritize shifting deadlines, and consistently deliver polished work product.
  • Analytical. You are comfortable working with data, creating reports, and using tools such as Excel to identify trends and communicate insights.
  • Collaborative. You build strong relationships across teams and enjoy partnering with attorneys and business professionals to support shared goals.
