Temporary Accounting Assistant (One Day In-office/Week)

As a Temporary Accounting Assistant, you will be a cornerstone of daily financial operations, partnering directly with leadership to keep accounting functions running smoothly, accurately, and efficiently. This organization is looking for a finance professional who takes ownership of their work, brings sharp analytical instincts, and thrives in an environment where the numbers have to be right. Key Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of payables and receivables, from transaction processing and vendor maintenance to revenue reconciliation, ensuring every entry is accurate and every deadline met.
- Play an active role in monthly close activities, such as, general ledger upkeep, and the preparation of thorough supporting documentation.
- Contribute to the production of financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, adhering to guidelines throughout.
- Keep a steady pulse on cash flow, monitoring balances, facilitating wire transfers, and ensuring all banking activity is properly tracked and reconciled.
- Partner with leadership on payroll needs, from submission through system entry and post-processing review.
- Serve as a key point of contact during audits, coordinating with third-party partners as needed.
- Lend support to tax preparation efforts and participate in the ongoing strengthening of internal financial controls and policies.
- Continuously look for smarter ways to work, flagging inefficiencies, recommending enhancements, and supporting the evolution of financial systems and tools.

What We’re Looking For:
- Accomplished. You bring 4-5 years of hands-on accounting or finance experience, with nonprofit or association backgrounds a strong plus.
- Systems savvy. You hit the ground running with tools like Paylocity, Concur, and Microsoft Office, and you adapt quickly when new platforms are introduced.
- Precise. You hold yourself to a high standard of accuracy and have a track record of clean reconciliations, complete records, and zero-surprise audits.
- Analytically driven. You’re comfortable digging into financial data, running complex calculations, and presenting findings in a clear, dependable way.

The salary listed reflects the anticipated compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, location, business considerations, and internal equity. Final offer amounts are determined at the employer’s discretion.
