Legal Administrative Assistant

Washington, D.C./Hybrid

$55,000 – $75,000

As a Legal Administrative Assistant, you will play an integral role in client development initiatives and project-driven legal work within a dynamic Washington, DC law firm. Serving as a key partner to the Practice Group Manager, you’ll contribute to the preparation of agency filings and help monitor regulatory and legislative activity tied to active matters. This role blends hands-on legal support with research, writing, and collaboration. In addition to assisting attorneys with high-priority documents, you’ll present findings during weekly team meetings and contribute meaningfully to the group’s success. This opportunity is well suited for someone with a genuine interest in law who is eager to grow within a stable, collegial, and supportive legal environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster strong attorney-client relationships by keeping clients informed of matter status and responding to inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Prepare materials for meetings, track upcoming deadlines, and ensure timely follow-through on all case-related documentation.
  • Maintain and organize client matter records within the firm’s database, reviewing documents carefully for accuracy, grammar, and consistency.
  • Assist attorneys with research for blog content related to case law and pending litigation.
  • Support special projects as assigned, including drafting written materials and presenting research findings during team meetings.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Degreed and experienced. You have a bachelor’s degree in hand and possess at least three years of legal experience; time entry experience is a strong plus.
  • Left-brained. You are very detail-oriented and logical in your work.
  • Writing and editing-whiz. You can clearly express ideas in your writing and spot grammatical errors in documents. Strong writing and editing skills are essential.
  • Articulate. You are confident and professional in your verbal and written communication skills.
  • Quality-focused. You understand the importance of meticulous work in a legal setting.
  • Database Savvy. You have extensive knowledge in database software and feel comfortable navigating through the software on a daily basis.
