International Trade Legal Administrative Assistant/Paralegal

$55,000 – $65,000

As the Legal Administrative Assistant to a busy practice group, you will support client development initiatives and administrative-based tasks in a dynamic DC law firm. Working closely with the Practice Group Manager, you will prepare filings, track regulatory and legislative activities, and assist attorneys in finalizing key documents. You will also present findings at weekly team meetings. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong interest in law who are seeking a stable and supportive legal environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and strengthen attorney/client relationships by keeping clients informed of case status and responding to inquiries promptly.
  • Coordinate administrative tasks, including scheduling, internal and external communications, billing and expense tracking, and follow-up documentation.
  • Prepare documents for meetings, monitor upcoming deadlines, and ensure proper documentation for case management.
  • Manage and organize client matter forms in the firm’s database, reviewing documents for accuracy and grammar.
  • Assist attorneys with research on case law and pending lawsuits.
  • Support special projects and present findings at team meetings, including writing assignments as needed.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Degreed. You hold a bachelor’s degree and have a genuine interest in building a legal career, ideally with at least two years of experience in legal support, including exposure to international trade.
  • Writing and editing-whiz. You write with clarity and precision, have a sharp eye for grammar, and can effectively convey ideas both in writing and verbally.
  • Articulate. It’s essential that you possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Precision-focused. You understand that accuracy and organization are critical in legal work, and you consistently produce high-quality, error-free work.
  • Database Savvy. You are comfortable navigating databases and legal software daily, with a strong ability to manage, organize, and retrieve information efficiently.
  • Collaborative and Professional. You thrive in a team environment, respond proactively to client and colleague needs, and maintain professionalism at all times.
