A high-stakes, humanitarian startup in Washington, D.C., is seeking an entrepreneurial and strategic Communications Manager to lead a “build-from-zero” communications strategy and serve as a vital link between complex humanitarian supply chains and senior global leaders. In this role, you will be managing day-to-day communications, working with leaders to develop and execute communication strategies, and ensure clear and cohesive content, sharing key updates and overall mission. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support execution and implementation of organization’s communications strategy, working directly with managing leadership to ensure alignment and consistency across all communications.
  • Develop and maintain communications guidelines and templates across internal teams.
  • Assist with drafting speeches, talking points, presentations, briefings, meeting materials, and public statements.
  • Monitor media coverage and developments, oversee media relationships, organization’s website, social media, and other digital platforms.
  • Translate technical work into accessible communications, develop content such as blogs, articles, fundraising materials, and reports.
  • Partner across teams to effectively communicate organizational updates publicly, ensuring major milestones, new partnerships, and other initiatives are shared.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Career in communications. You have a strong interest in communications work at least five (5) years of prior experience in public policy, strategic communications or related sectors.
  • Cohesive and concise. You are an exceptional writer, translating complex topics and messages into easy to understand and effective content and storylines.
  • Glowing Google review. You love Google Workspace and have expert level knowledge regarding both specifically Google applications and software programs in general.
  • Personable and team oriented. You are someone who works well with everyone and can be counted on through calm and chaos. Flexibility to work outside of standard work hours will be key to success in this role.
