Director of Human Resources

Washington, DC/Hybrid

$180,000 – $220,000

Are you a seasoned HR professional seeking an opportunity to bring your wealth of experience and knowledge into a new chapter of your career? As the Director of Human Resources with this boutique DC law firm, you will oversee all operational functions of the HR department. This role provides the opportunity to collaborate closely with firm leadership to further promote the firm’s close-knit, hardworking culture through staff recruitment and professional development. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all core HR functions, including employee onboarding/offboarding, compensation and benefits, and employee performance and retention.
  • Develop HR policies and procedures that align with the firm’s objectives and requirements, ensuring all HR matters comply with local and federal laws and regulations.
  • Support the firm’s attorney hiring initiatives including the summer associate program and law school student outreach, aligning recruiting efforts with the firm’s goals.
  • Assist with designing and implementing both attorney and staff training and development programs to support longer-term career growth.
  • Serve as an advisor to firm leadership regarding HR matters, collaborating across departments to gauge staffing needs and overall performance.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Seasoned HR professional. You have a Bachelor’s degree and at least eight (8) years of previous human resources experience. Prior experience in professional services or law firm environment is preferred.
  • Knowledgeable. You are well versed in employment laws and overall HR practices, with a strong ability to acquire and develop top talent employees.
  • Polished people person. You have stellar interpersonal and communication skills. You are trustworthy, always demonstrate sound judgement, and are a leader among others.
  • Adept multitasker. You are highly organized and manage competing priorities seamlessly.
